Head Start is based on the premise that all children share certain needs and that children of low-income families, in particular, can benefit from a comprehensive developmental program to meet those needs. Arizona’s Children Association Head Start program serves three to five year olds in the Isaac and Fowler School Districts in Phoenix.
The Head Start program includes three caseworkers who work with families all year to locate and access services, and to meet educational and employment goals. Specialists in education, health and nutrition, parental involvement, social services, disabilities and mental health work with children and families to ensure that children in the Head Start Program are well equipped to go into the public school system.
Bi-lingual education is provided in each classroom. The teacher to child ratio is two teachers to 20 children.
