La Cañada is a 30-day, level 2 substance abuse treatment program/therapeutic group facility for male and female adolescents ages 12 through 17 with substance abuse issues that require residential treatment but no medically supervised detoxification. Family involvement is the cornerstone of the program.
Clients who are referred from Community Partners of Southern Arizona also receive aftercare services for two months following the 30-day program.
Licensed professional clinicians help adolescents address substance abuse, individual problems, and peer and family relationships in a structured environment. Through program activities, clients:
- Receive extensive drug education
- Receive a psychiatric evaluation
- Receive HIV/STD education
- Attend psychoeducational groups
- Receive nutrition education
- Learn and practice new coping skills
- Learn to identify and express emotions
- Build trust, teamwork and communication skills
- Participate in recreation activities
- Attend Experiential Challenge Groups
- Participate in growth and self-help activities
- Attend 12-step (AA/NA) support group meetings
