La Cañada is a 60-day,
level 2 substance abuse treatment program/ therapeutic group facility for male
adolescents ages 12 through 17 with substance abuse issues that require
residential treatment but no medically supervised detoxification. Family
involvement is the cornerstone of the program. The La Canada program is also
certified in the Sanctuary Model, a trauma-informed model of care.
Clients are referred from Community Partnerships of Southern Arizona,
other Regional Behavioral Health Authorities including Cenpatico, and Arizona
Office of Corrections. SAPT funding is also available by contacting your
Regional Behavioral Health Authority.
Licensed professional clinicians help
adolescents address substance abuse, individual problems, and peer and family
relationships in a structured environment. Through program activities,
clients:
- Receive extensive drug education
- Receive a psychiatric evaluation
- Receive HIV/STD education
- Attend psychoeducational groups
- Receive nutrition education
- Learn and practice new coping skills
- Learn to identify and express
emotions
- Build trust, teamwork and
communication skills
- Participate in recreation activities
- Attend Experiential Challenge Groups
- Participate in growth and self-help
activities
- Attend 12-step (AA/NA) support group
meetings
