Child
Haven is a member of Arizona’s Children Association
Family of Agencies operating in Prescott, Arizona. Child Haven
provides free crisis nursery care for young children and their
families in Yavapai County. Designed to prevent potential
child abuse and neglect, it provides a temporary safe haven
for young children living with families in crisis.
Child Haven provides for the care of children in the
homes of volunteer licensed host families. These families
can care for children from birth to six years of age,
as well as older siblings. The typical stay is from
one to three days, and arrangements can be made for
extended stays on a case by case basis. Child Haven
can also assist with referrals for education, housing,
employment, counseling and clothing.
In Arizona, the home remains the most dangerous place
for a child. Life circumstances sometimes overwhelm
parents, and stress erupts into abuse. Child Haven
is a place and a program that parents can go before
they become overwhelmed, and before the abuse begins.
