Arizona’s Children Association
offers a number of programs designed to not just treat existing
problems, but to prevent them altogether. Via education,
information and support programs, family members learn to
feel more confident and competent as a unit. Prevention
initiatives throughout the state encourage validation and
empowerment of the individual and, as a result, serve to
strengthen the family as a whole.
Just a few of the prevention programs
offered are:
The
Parent Connection in Tucson is one
of our oldest prevention programs, offering seminars, parenting
classes and workshops that allow families in the community
to come together to explore, learn and acquire positive
parenting skills. The Parent Connection is a resource center
that enriches the lives of children, birth to five, by providing
parents with education, information and support.
Child
Haven in Prescott provides temporary safe haven
for children in times of family crisis. Child Haven
provides free crisis nursery care for young children and
their families in Yavapai County.
The
KARE Family Center
(Kinship
and Adoption Resource Education), located
in Tucson, provides education and training programs designed
to educate relative caregivers and new adoptive parents
and provide the family support needed to prevent significant
problems from ever occurring.
In Maricopa County,
Nuestra
Familia combines prevention and intervention
programs in a home-based family support and preservation
format geared to strengthening the family by creating a
safe and nurturing home. This program is unique in that
there are no financial or other eligibility requirements
beyond the family's need.
Golden
Gate Community Center provides a
comprehensive array of services for all age groups from
preschoolers to seniors. Education and health programs,
organized sports and fitness activities are available at
little or no cost. For more than 70 years the Center
has been providing a safe and enjoyable place for children
and families to participate in a wide variety of activities
