As a long-time board member for AzCA\, John began an annual golf tournament to raise funds for local children and families. Since 1998\, these tournaments have raised more than $800\,000! John’s energy\, commitment and courage will forever be a part of his legacy. \nAll entries include: green fee\, skins\, golf cart\, tournament shirt and lunch. The minimum team handicap is 50 – only one player per team with a handicap under 10. \nProceeds from this event will be used locally to help Yuma children and families receiving services through Arizona’s Children Association. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, April 8\, 2025\n11:00 AM – 1:00 PM\nArizona Biltmore Golf Club Ballroom\nArizona’s Children Association (AzCA) is excited to announce the fourth annual “Celebrating Her Story” event\, a luncheon for supporters\, corporate and community partners\, friends\, and allies to gather and celebrate exemplary women who have demonstrated resiliency in times of adversity. \nThis year’s event will recognize Mary Lou Hapner who\, paying no attention to glass ceilings\, became the first female stockbroker in Arizona and only the second in the United States. In addition\, she taught herself golf\, rising to the level of the varsity golf team at ASU\, was a founding member of the Arizona Biltmore Country Club\, and wrote the Proclamation for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor when appointed to the Supreme Court. After her illustrious career\, Mary Lou has been a stalwart advocate for children\, contributing in multiple ways to numerous Arizona organizations\, including serving on AZCA’s Emeritus Board. \nNoted artist Annette Smith says\, “Mary Lou is a tough\, self-made woman with an indomitable spirit who broke through barriers for women in the business world.
