In Home / Family Preservation Services

Team intervention efforts are utilized to protect children at risk of out of home placement due to abuse or neglect, by allowing the children to remain safely in their homes. The focus of the service is to improve the safety and well-being of families, enhance family functioning, increase competence in parenting abilities, foster a sense of self-sufficiency, reduce any risk factors, increase protective factors, and stabilize placements.

The services are specifically designed to each family’s needs and may include: parent education, counselling, family therapy, communication skills, domestic violence intervention and/or education, behavior management, home management and connections to available community resources. In Home services are typically provided in the family’s home, but maybe provided in other venues, such as in the child’s current placement.
