2020 marks the 25th year of Penny Pitch hosted by 99.5 KiiM FM. For the first time, KiiM-FM will broadcast for 5 days: December 14-18th from 6am-7pm with a collection drop-off site on location at the Tucson Mall. Penny Pitch was started as a radio event that brings together Arizona’s Children Association’s (AzCA) staff, clients and volunteers to share their stories of support and success within the community, while helping to spread awareness of services offered by AzCA. KiiM-FM and the AzCA team collect donations during this week-long radio event to support local families and children in need.
Every year, KiiM FM’s goal is to raise one million pennies for AzCA and with COVID-19, the donations are all the more important.
Donations to Penny Pitch help cover emergency funds, which are quintessential during these unprecedented times. With the ever-changing COVID-19 situation, Emergency Funds allow us to continue to provide our programs and services while also fulfilling ongoing requests for basic needs for our children and families. Frequently requested items include diapers, baby formula, food, clothing, hygienic supplies, bedding, educational supplies and school materials, help with rent and utility bills, and in some rare cases, communication supports including temporary cell phones, data plans, mobile hot spots and internet access.
Our ability to fulfill the increase in requests for aid from our families is imperative to their survival. But we can’t do it alone.
